Compensation and Benefits

When extending an offer, the company considers a variety of factors such as (but not limited to) the candidate's work experience, education/training & key skills as well as internal peer equity and other market and business considerations.

 

The range for this position is $60,000-$75,000. ($28.85-$36.06 per hour)

Job Overview

The position of Investigative Reporter is responsible for reporting on unique stories that center on accountability, force transparency and bring results using a wide array of sources. We want a reporter whose in-depth stories leave viewers wanting more of the same.

Job Responsibilities

  • Handles a variety of news reporting assignments, emphasizing breaking news and stories that hold people accountable.
  • Responsible for reporting, shooting and editing non-linear in-depth news stories.
  • Research and schedule news stories, gather information, write stories, interview subject and reports live on air or in the field during assigned newscast.
  • Prepare enterprise stories in line with our brand on a daily basis.
  • Create excellent audience-directed content for web and social media.

Qualifications

  • 2 years reporting experience including hard hitting, relevant investigative work.
  • Reputation as an ethical, fair and trusted reporter whose commitment to the highest standards of journalism is unquestioned.
  • Ability to juggle multiple assignments and stories at once, while working closely with management and other members of station to put Investigative stories on the air.
  • Ability to follow a paper trail, use the Internet to dig deep and file paperwork and records requests in a timely manner to get what 's needed to serve the story.
  • Understanding of and ability to interpret key government, court and business documents provided by well-placed, high-level sources who you've cultivated.
  • Ability to think critically, quick and efficiently, live ad-libbing and maintaining performance under extreme pressure and on strict deadline required. Knowledge of photojournalism and non-linear editing required.
  • Demonstrated previous experience working closely and in sync with photographers, editors and producers.
  • Professional, consistent on-air appearance.
  • Must be flexible to work any assigned shift including days, nights, weekends, holidays; and extended hours.
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license and clean driving history as determined by The Company. Driving record will be checked.
  • DEMO reel required.
