The UI/UX Designer shall support the client core team in their efforts to develop a web application for democratic public participation processes used by national and local governments to include citizens in planning processes.
Scope of Work:
• Collaborate with the development team to design a user-friendly web application
• Develop and maintain high-fidelity prototypes for participatory processes, including data visualization, analysis and web-based interfaces, to ensure a seamless user experience
• Collaborate with software developers, data scientists, other designers and project management team
• Assess and incorporate new technologies and methodologies to enhance application performance and capabilities
• Conduct user interviews and surveys to understand user needs and pain points.
• Analyze user feedback to inform design decisions
• Create high-fidelity prototypes using tools like Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD
• Design intuitive and visually appealing user interfaces for the web application.
• Ensure consistency in design elements, such as color schemes, typography, and iconography
• Ensure that data visualizations are clear, informative, and easy to interpret
• Conduct usability testing sessions to gather feedback on the prototypes.
• Iterate on designs based on user feedback and testing results
• Participate in regular team meetings and design reviews
• Create and maintain design documentation, including style guides and design specifications.
• Provide detailed annotations and guidelines for developer
Competencies:
Bachelor's or higher degree, in Graphic Design, Computer Science, Urban Planning, or a directly related field or its equivalent in education and/or work experience.
Experience:
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in UI/UX design with a strong portfolio.
• Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar
• Strong understanding of human-centered and user-centered design principles.
• Experience creating high-fidelity prototypes.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Experience with designing user-friendly, scalable and secure applications
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and an interest in finding technical and innovative solutions for urban development issues.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, contributing to an agile development process and interacting with frontend developers, data scientists, and other team members.
• Experience with international development is an asset
• Experience with participatory processes and policymaking is an asset
