Project Interior Designer
The Project Interior Designer is responsible for managing assigned residential design projects from client consultation through project completion, including concept development, material selection, design documentation, and collaboration with project management teams to ensure seamless execution. This role requires strong project management skills to oversee design schedules, budgets, and client expectations. This role should align and embody Hazley Builders core vision and values.
The ideal candidate will have at least five years of experience in residential design and construction, with a deep understanding of interior architecture, materials, and construction techniques. This position collaborates closely with clients, contractors, architects, and trade professionals to deliver high-quality, functional, and aesthetically refined interiors.
Essential Functions
Design Development & Client Engagement
• Lead client meetings to understand design goals, functional needs, and aesthetic preferences.
• Develop design concepts, space planning solutions, and material palettes that align with client expectations and project constraints.
• Create floor plans and elevations using CAD, Revit, or Chief Architect.
• Present designs to clients, ensuring alignment with budget, construction feasibility, and project timelines.
• Facilitate client showroom visits and assist in material and fixture selections.
Project Coordination & Design Execution
• Manage the full lifecycle of design projects, including scheduling, budgeting, and coordination with construction teams.
• Prepare detailed construction documents, specifications, and material schedules for contractor execution.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to resolve design challenges and ensure feasibility.
• Maintain compliance with local building codes, permitting requirements, and industry best practices.
• Conduct regular site visits to monitor project progress, address design-related issues, and ensure quality standards are met.
3D Visualization & Digital Tools
• Develop 3D renderings and digital walkthroughs to assist client visualization.
• Utilize AutoCAD, Revit, Chief Architect, and Adobe Creative Suite for detailed design documentation and presentations.
• Maintain an organized system for project files and design documentation using Buildertrend or other project management software.
Collaboration & Communication
• Work closely with sales, estimating, and production teams to ensure designs meet budgetary and construction feasibility standards.
• Maintain clear, timely communication with clients regarding design approvals, project updates, and timeline adjustments.
• Participate in weekly design and production meetings to align project progress with overall company goals.
• Document client interactions, revisions, and approvals to maintain transparency throughout the project.
Quality Control & Design Standards
• Ensure all design deliverables meet company quality standards and align with the Proven Process guidelines.
• Stay up to date on residential design trends, materials, and technologies to continuously improve design solutions.
• Implement sustainable and energy-efficient design practices where applicable.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
• Minimum of 5 years of residential interior design experience. • Expertise in space planning, interior detailing, and material specification.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Chief Architect, Adobe Creative Suite, and Buildertrend (or similar project management software).
• Excellent project management skills, with experience handling multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to effectively communicate design concepts to clients, contractors, and internal teams.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and experience resolving design challenges during construction.
• Hand sketching skills are a plus.
• Experience with residential design-build and the philosophy accompanies it highly desired or aptitude to attain it.
• Previous experience working with and at ease with residential clients, assessing their unique needs as well as being able to take their ideas and translate those ideas into plans within budget preferred.
• Proficient in the accuracy of details, plans, and ideas. This role must understand the emphasis on the precision of details.
• Strong knowledge of appropriate English, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and word usage and ability to communicate concepts, thoughts, and ideas both written and orally to others.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of Outlook and Microsoft Office Suite as well as proficiency in or ability to quickly become proficient in needed software such as Buildertrend.
• Ability to work within deadlines.
• Proven track record working with all levels of the organization as well as clients.
• Maintain a valid driver’s license and state-required insurance.
