Job Description

Are you passionate about helping kids fall in love with Jesus in a fun, safe, and life-shaping environment?

Do you light up when kids feel seen, parents feel supported, and volunteers are thriving in their gifts? If so, Friends Church Corona is looking for someone like you to lead our Kids Ministry (birth–5th grade)!

This is a 20-hour per week position with a pay range of $23-$25/hr , depending on experience.

BIG PICTURE: Room to Grow:

We believe ministry should grow with the people God brings. While this role begins as part-time, our desire is to expand it into a full-time position as our church continues to grow. We’re praying for a leader who’s ready to plant deep roots, build something beautiful, and grow alongside us.

THE TEAM YOU’LL JOIN:

This isn’t just a job-it’s a place to belong. We’re a team that laughs together, prays together, and shows up for one another. We celebrate birthdays, carry each other’s burdens, and genuinely enjoy doing life and ministry side by side. If you're a college student or emerging leader looking for a place to plug in, grow in your calling, and make real friendships- you’ll love this staff. We’re intentional about building a healthy, encouraging culture where you’re not just valued for what you do, but for who you are. You won’t be alone. You’ll be mentored, supported, and championed- not micromanaged. Our church may not be massive, but our unity, creativity, and heart for Jesus and people are huge.

A GREAT FIT IF YOU’RE STILL LEARNING:

Maybe you’re newer to ministry. Maybe you’ve felt called to kids ministry but haven’t had the chance to lead yet. This could be your moment. We’d love to walk alongside someone who’s teachable, eager to grow, and excited to learn the why behind the what . If you’re looking for real experience, hands-on training, and mentorship in a healthy church , this is the place for you. You’ll be supported, encouraged, and given room to try, fail, and flourish.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

We’re praying for someone who’s not just good with kids-but called to help disciple the next generation. You’re a confident leader (or want to become one), a team builder, and a warm presence that kids run toward and parents trust. You’ll be the point person for all things Kids Ministry—leading volunteers, curating curriculum, building a culture of joy and safety, and championing family discipleship.

YOUR MISSION:

To create a purposeful, engaging, and Jesus-centered ministry for kids and their families-where every child is seen, loved, and pointed toward a growing faith in Christ.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Lead a Thriving Kids Ministry:

  • Oversee all aspects of Kids Ministry (birth-5th grade) including Sundays, special events, and midweek opportunities.
  • Make ministry safe, fun, and engaging through consistent standards and clear procedures.
  • Teach occasionally and coach others to thrive in their roles.

Build a Rock-Solid Volunteer Team:

  • Recruit, train, and encourage volunteers to serve in various roles (teachers, helpers, small group leaders).
  • Create a team culture that’s joyful, equipped, and appreciated.
  • Develop clear onboarding and regular check-ins.

Partner with Parents:

  • Build strong relationships with parents through Sunday interactions, clear communication, and helpful discipleship resources.
  • Help parents feel confident and equipped as the primary spiritual influence in their kids’ lives.

Plan Events That Create Memories:

  • Lead exciting, family-friendly events like VBS, Harvest Festival, and Easter Egg Hunts.
  • Organize meaningful faith milestones like child dedications, baptisms, and Bible presentations.

Be a Team Player:

  • Collaborate with our staff to support the larger vision of Friends Church.
  • Stay rooted in your own walk with Jesus, practicing spiritual rhythms and leading from a place of health.

WE’RE EXCITED IF YOU HAVE:

  • Ministry experience with kids (church, camps, or education settings) - or a strong desire to grow into it.
  • A heart for discipleship and relational leadership.
  • A creative, flexible spirit with strong communication and organizational skills.
  • A personal and growing relationship with Jesus.
  • A willingness to align with the beliefs and values of Friends Church Corona.

A bachelor’s degree in ministry, education, or a related field is a plus but not required.

WHY YOU’LL LOVE THIS ROLE:

  • You’ll shape a ministry from the ground up with the support of a passionate team.
  • You’ll help kids discover Jesus and help parents feel equipped and encouraged.
  • You’ll grow your leadership and impact in a church that values creativity, excellence, and authenticity.
  • You’ll be given space to learn, grow, and lead - even if you’re just starting out.
  • You’ll be surrounded by a staff that champions you and celebrates your wins.
  • And as our church grows - you’ll have the opportunity to grow with it.

TO APPLY:

Send your resume and a short note about why you're interested to [email protected]. We can’t wait to meet you!
